I’ve been connected with Bellefontaine for nearly a decade. Though I grew up in South City, St. Louis, I had never explored the cemetery until my mother signed us up for a walking tour in 2017. We were deeply impressed by the beauty, history, monuments, and ecological importance of the grounds—and I describe it as one of the most beautiful and meaningful pieces of land in St. Louis.

At the end of that tour, when the guide (Dan Fuller, now the cemetery’s Chronicler) mentioned that Bellefontaine was looking for volunteers, I knew I wanted to be a part of this special place.

I began volunteering—helping with genealogy and research, supporting the horticulture team, and assisting at cemetery events. After seven years of volunteer service, I assumed the role of Data Administrator. In my official capacity, I handle a variety of tasks across both office buildings, support events, and occasionally have the privilege of providing hearse services for funerals.

I hold a profound love for St. Louis, and I’m passionate about preserving and honoring those who choose Bellefontaine as their final resting place. I believe it takes a special kind of person to work in a cemetery—regardless of the specific role—and I deeply value my colleagues and longtime volunteers, who share my devotion to the cemetery’s 314 acres.

I’m grateful to contribute to the living history of Bellefontaine, which I regard as one of the most beautiful and fascinating outdoor spaces this side of the Mississippi.
