Groundskeeper

Art serves as a groundskeeper with primary duties that include digging graves and maintaining the Cemetery grounds. He has been with Bellefontaine for 29 years.

Art is skilled in operating heavy equipment and finds his most fulfilling aspect of the job to be caring for the families and loved ones served by Bellefontaine. He values his role in a place dedicated to history, nature, and culture. His most meaningful memories come from the people he’s met during his time there.

Away from his work duties, Art has a personal connection to Section H-32, where his father is laid to rest…Art visits frequently. A fun fact: he’s very athletic and known for being extremely funny and friendly.

Art hopes to continue his service and eventually retire at Bellefontaine, contributing to the long-term mission of preserving this special place. For Art, the most rewarding part of his role is simply: “Taking care of their loved ones.”
