Art Through the Eyes of the Artist: A Trolley Tour with Abraham Mohler

For 177 years, Bellefontaine has been a place where art, nature, and memory come together. Now, experience this remarkable landscape from a different perspective—through the eyes of an artist.

Join Abraham Mohler, Bellefontaine’s 2026–2027 Artist in Residence, for a special artist-led trolley tour through our historic grounds.

An accomplished sculptor specializing in stone carving and bronze sculpture, Abraham will invite guests to look beyond the surface of Bellefontaine’s monuments and sculptures to explore how they were created and what they communicate.

Along the way, discover how a sculptor sees form and movement in stone; how light, shadow, and season can transform a work of art; and how symbolism and subtle details help tell the stories of the people memorialized here. Abraham will also share his perspective as a working artist and sculptor whose own work has become part of Bellefontaine’s landscape.

Each tour will offer a unique look at Bellefontaine’s rich collection of sculpture and architecture, as well as the places where horticulture and monuments meet. No two tours will be exactly the same.

Whether you are interested in art, history, architecture, or simply curious to experience Bellefontaine differently, this tour offers a rare opportunity to see the Cemetery through an artist’s eyes.

You may never look at Bellefontaine’s monuments in quite the same way again.
