From Stone to Story: Live Sculpture with Abraham Mohler
Every monument begins with two things: a piece of stone and an artist’s vision. Experience that transformation firsthand at Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum.
Join Abraham Mohler, Bellefontaine’s 2026–2027 Artist in Residence, as he works outdoors among the historic monuments and sculptures that make Bellefontaine an extraordinary landscape of art and remembrance.
An accomplished sculptor specializing in stone carving and bronze sculpture, with a special focus on the human figure, Abraham will spend his 15-month residency exploring the theme “Art Through the Eyes of the Artist.”
One Saturday each month, guests are invited to watch as Abraham transforms a rough block of stone into a work of art. See the tools and techniques of the sculptor’s craft, learn about his creative process, and witness the patience and artistry required to bring an idea to life in stone.
At the top of each hour, Abraham will pause his work to visit with guests, answer questions, and share insights into his process, inspiration, and the evolving sculpture.
Bring a chair or blanket and settle in beneath the trees. Stay for a few minutes or spend the entire morning with us—and consider returning throughout Abraham’s residency to watch the sculpture’s story unfold.
Visitors may already recognize Abraham’s work among Bellefontaine’s historic monuments. During his residency, five additional pieces of his art will join our collection, continuing Bellefontaine’s long tradition of bringing art, nature, memory, and remembrance together.
