Sips, Souls, and Strolls: Horticulture at Bellefontaine

Join us for our final Sips, Souls, and Strolls of the year as we take a twilight walking tour along our Historic Loop Trail! Enjoy a walk at dusk with a special focus on the rich botanical history and plant collections of Bellefontaine.

During this tour, we’ll explore how even the architectural iconography on our historic mausoleums speaks to horticulture. We will check in on our ongoing conservation work with our rare Franklin Tree (Franklinia alatamaha), learn how to tell the difference between Yulan and Saucer Magnolias, and finish at the Historic Hotchkiss Chapel—home to unique magnolias recently identified and named for the horticultural world.

🌳 Save Our Franklin Tree Initiative

Bellefontaine is actively working to preserve and protect rare species like the Franklin Tree, which has been extinct in the wild since the early 19th century.
