Exploring the Arboretum
To your left, you’ll find Cypress Lake and Wildwood Valley
Garden, a formal strolling garden designed to highlight native plants. This
area supports a wide range of wildlife, including rare native bee species
observed on-site. There are over 5 acres of gardens to wander and explore here.
The garden also features one of Bellefontaine’s two green burial areas, known
as the Bulb Meadow. It is a space where ecological restoration and remembrance

Native’s website to discover all kinds of valuable native plant resources,
including a native plant database with filters (such as soil type, sun,
moisture etc.) you can select based on the growing conditions of your home
landscape.

Wilson Allen Taylor
Judge | Lot #6415
Judge Taylor was elected to the Circuit Court in St. Louis,
1928. He found many filings in his courtroom seemed to center around the new
technology of the time, the automobile. Judge Taylor felt the automobile took
up too much of men’s time on repairs, and for women it gave them a way out of
the house.

Samuel Craft Davis

A prominent capitalist and the brother of former Secretary of War Dwight Davis, Samuel Craft Davis was a keen businessman with extensive realty holdings across downtown St. Louis. For years, he maintained his professional office inside the historic Security Building—the exact same structure where Bellefontaine Cemetery kept its own offices until recent times.
