Exploring the Arboretum
The Arboretum’s diverse evergreen conifer collection begins to unfold here in Section Blair. These trees provide year-round structure and color, offering contrast to the surrounding deciduous canopy. Keep an eye out for the elegant weeping Nootka false cypress (Xanthocyparis nootkatensis - pictured here), whose pendulous branches create a striking, almost waterfall-like form. Native to the Pacific Northwest, this species can live for over 1,000 years in the wild.
