JEAN PATE

Assistant Office Administrator

Jean became part of the BCA family in February 2010, after a tip from a former employee, Connie Nisinger — and she’s been here ever since! Over the years, she’s watched the place evolve, grown alongside it, and contributes daily to its mission.

With a background in education and administration (she holds her master’s in Education), Jean has always loved being around people. In her role at BCA, she brings that heart and care to supporting families who are going through difficult times.

Here’s a bit of what Jean does:

  • Answers phones and welcomes visitors
  • Opens doors and helps guests find their way
  • Marks maps to guide visitors and families
  • Handles genealogy requests
  • Keeps lot files organized
  • Types interment and lot‐diagram forms for burials
  • Enters burial records into our CIMS database

Jean finds BCA to be a truly special place, full of history, culture, and natural beauty. One weekend, while patrolling the grounds, she rescued a small hawk stuck in Cypress Lake — working with colleagues and a local sanctuary, they helped nurse it back to health and released it safely.

Among her favorite spots are the “Whispering Angel” monument and the chapel. She fondly recalls Sundays when, while opening the chapel, she would sing The Lord’s Prayer and let the acoustics carry her voice.

Jean also has a lifelong love of sports — especially basketball. She’s played through high school, college, and in AAU with the St. Louis 76’ers. She’s coached both boys’ and girls’ teams; coached a women's professional basketball team (The St. Louis River Queens, 1991-1992 as part of the Women’s Basketball Association (WBA) before becoming the WNBA); and steamed ahead to win several conference championships, even placing in the state tournament. Track & field is another passion, and she’s led teams to first-place finishes there, too.

Jean’s warmth, dedication, and enthusiasm make her a wonderful part of the BCA team — and she’s always ready to help.
